Sunday School:

In our lesson on Sunday (October 16), we learned about Moses and the burning bush. The Triune God appeared to him and divinely called Moses to be Israel’s deliverer from slavery in Egypt. When Moses asked God what His name is, God said I AM – the name by which Jesus proclaimed that He is true God.

Sunday School Bible Verse to learn by heart this week:

Preschool-3rd grade:

Psalm 46:1 —  God is our Refuge and Strength, a very present help in trouble.

4th-8th grade:

2 Corinthians 12:9 — But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Catechism to learn by heart this week (all grades):

The Seventh Commandment

You shall not steal. What does this mean?

We should fear and love God, so that we do not take our neighbor’s money or goods, nor get them in any dishonest way, but help him to improve and protect his goods and means of making a living.

    The Eighth Commandment

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God, so that we do not lie about, betray or slander our neighbor, but excuse him, speak well of him, and put the best construction on everything.
